DESIGNING AN ONLINE COURSE:
Educational and communication planning criteria

This volume shares with the reader the experience of the authors who, on the occasion of online training projects with a component strongly centered on videos, have had the opportunity to mutually "contaminate" their skills, converging into a synthesis between online-education design and communication design.

In this sense, the volume's main purpose is to offer a guide, both for the educational design and the communication design, and the development of video content. At the same time, to encourage the acquisition and use of a shared terminology by all the components of online courses development and management team, teams where skills and languages ​​often come from multiple professional backgrounds. Good communication within the team is fundamental to optimize the workflow.

The recipients of the volume are therefore teachers, trainers and more generally development teams involved in the design and implementation of online training courses.
The hope is that what the authors have experienced and translated into this work can serve as a model to inspire all those who are about to get ready to design and develop of online courses.

Valeria Piras. Communication designer, graduated in Communication Design at the Polytechnic of Milan. She carries out research at the ITD-CNR of Genoa where she studies the use of video animation in educational communication.

Maria Cecilia Reyes. Interactive media designer, PhD in Digital Humanities and Communication Sciences. She conducts research at the ITD-CNR of Genoa on the use of hypervideo in the massive online training.

Guglielmo Trentin. For over thirty years he has carried out research at the ITD-CNR of Genoa on the use didactic of digital technologies. His research focuses on methodologies for online-education design.
